McGowan expressed her gratitude to Colin, her former mentor at Tango Gameworks, for all the guidance and support he had provided her. She also extended her thanks to her new boss, Laffy, for entrusting her with the opportunity to contribute to exciting projects at id Software. She is eager to tackle the new challenge head-on and and make a great impact on the success of the Doom creator by overseeing the development of multiple projects at the studio.

One of the new titles in development at id Software is Doom: The Dark Ages. The identity of the other game (or games) is anyone’s guess, though, if we were to speculate, it may well be a new Quake or even a sequel to Hexen.

For the uninitiated, Doom: The Dark Ages is an upcoming first-person shooter developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It will be the eighth main entry in the Doom series and the third in the modern series, following Doom Eternal (2020). It is a prequel to Doom, and is set to release in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. The game focuses on the Doom Slayer’s rise as the last hope of a kingdom battling Hell’s forces. Developer id Software started working on the game after completing Doom Eternal’s post-launch campaign, The Ancient Gods, in 2021, with full production beginning by August, 2022. Information about the game leaked in September 2023, and it was officially announced in June 2024.
