Need for Speed Unbound PS5 vs. Xbox Series Comparison: Which Platform Is Best?

by Salal Awan

Need for Speed Unbound is out now for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. If you are pondering on which platform to get it, check out this comparison.

Need for Speed Unbound is the first proper current-generation exclusive from EA. While it is not available on PS4 and Xbox One, there doesn’t appear to be a major reason for skipping on these consoles. It is not a visually demanding game at all, although it might make sense due to business reasons.

Now that the game is out for a few days, here is a comparison video that appears to highlight the difference between the platforms.

If you are playing Need for Speed Unbound on a PC, you might check out this best settings guide. If you don’t have a PC, here are the specs for Need for Speed Unbound on PS5, Xbox Series S, and X including the resolution and frame rate.

Need for Speed Unbound resolution has been confirmed to be dynamic 4K on Xbox Series and PS5. The game runs at a resolution of 1800p to 2160p on the PS5, and an average of 2016p to 2160p on the Xbox Series X. It drops down lower on the Xbox Series S with a resolution of 1440p to 1080p.

The performance of the game is best on the PS5 with a frame rate target of 60 FPS that remains stable. It appears to drop some frames on the Xbox Series S and X, which could be due to a higher average resolution. As a result, the best experience is offered by the PS5 albeit at a slightly lower resolution on average compared to the Xbox Series X.

If you own both of the current generation consoles, your best bet is to get the game on the PS5 as it will perform great there. The Xbox Series X version is overall good too, so you can get it if you prefer the controller or ecosystem.
