Nintendo has expanded its Virtual Boy library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers with the addition of five more classic titles. The latest update for Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics includes V-TETRIS, Jack Bros., SPACE INVADERS VIRTUAL COLLECTION, VIRTUAL BOWLING, and VERTICAL FORCE.
Originally released in Japan on August 25, 1995, V-TETRIS brings the puzzle formula into a stereoscopic 3D environment. The game is particularly known for its “Spiral Mode,” which wraps gameplay around a cylindrical field.
Jack Bros., a Shin Megami Tensei spin-off, also joins the service. The game first launched in Japan on September 29, 1995, before arriving in North America the following month. Players control one of three brothers in a fast-paced top-down action game focused on clearing stages before time runs out.
Nintendo has also added SPACE INVADERS VIRTUAL COLLECTION, which originally released in Japan on December 1, 1995. The package includes classic arcade versions of Space Invaders alongside a redesigned 3D variation that uses depth effects during combat.
Another addition is VIRTUAL BOWLING, first released on December 22, 1995. Considered one of the rarer Virtual Boy games, it uses a first-person viewpoint and stereoscopic visuals to recreate the feel of a bowling alley.
Completing the lineup is VERTICAL FORCE, a vertical scrolling shooter that launched in Japan on August 12, 1995, and later released in North America on December 1, 1995. The game stands out for allowing players to switch between multiple altitude layers while fighting enemies across 3D battlefields.
The newly added games are now available through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service.
