Retailer Best Buy appears to have preemptively sent out emails regarding the GTA VI pre-order starting soon to its affiliates.
Multiple Best Buy affiliates (via XTRevivals on Reddit) have confirmed receiving emails from the retailer, informing them about a GTA VI pre-order campaign set to take place between May 18, 2026, and May 21, 2026. The aforementioned campaign will allow affiliates to get a 5% discount on the game.
This appears to be a slip up on the part of Best Buy, as Rockstar Games has yet to provide any official pre-order details for GTA VI. Given that retailers are informed about such details ahead of a public announcement, this strongly suggests that the game will likely be going up for pre-order on May 18, 2026.
It’s also possible that Rockstar Games will drop Trailer 3 for GTA VI on the same day. The trailer’s arrival will likely align with Take-Two Interactive’s upcoming investor call, following a pattern established with prior Rockstar Games titles. Historically, the company has preferred to release major updates ahead of such calls to control messaging and avoid overshadowing financial discussions. Given that the company’s Q4 2026 earnings call is set to happen on May 21, 2026, it’s highly plausible for both pre-orders and the third trailer to go live on May 18, 2026.
Earlier this month, Sony Interactive Entertainment began a new marketing push, through which it encouraged PS4 GTA V players to upgrade to a PS5 to be ready for the GTA VI launch on November 19, 2026. PlayStation 4 users were approached via emails registered to their PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts as well as via a “From PlayStation” announcement directly on the console. The official message is titled, “Because you love playing Grand Theft Auto V…”, and it asserts the recipient as a “top Grand Theft Auto V player!” Furthermore, the message asks the PSN user to “get a PlayStation 5 today to be ready for when Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026.” A QR code is provided alongside the message to scan and ship PS5 consoles.
