Nintendo Switch 2 May Come With A 60W charger & A Cooler Inside Its Dock

The Nintendo Switch successor, dubbed the Switch 2, will come with a 60W charge and a cooler inside its dock, based on the latest rumor.

Famiboards members LiC and LuigiBlood (via) brought to light some technical issues with the Nintendo Switch that have been taken into consideration during the design and development of the Switch 2. According to the source, a datamine of the exchange of data between Nintendo and NVIDIA uncovered references to a charger with 60W power. It is believed that this could allow for higher clock speeds and also improve the console’s charging capabilities to the “fast-speed” spec if it adopts the use of GaN technology. The use of the latter technology is vital in current chargers for cell phones and notebooks that ensure greater efficiency and speed with each charge.

According to the source, the manufacturer that will provide the charger for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be Delta Electronics, the same supplier responsible for the version present in the existing Switch console.

Furthermore, the manufacturer data also contains hints regarding the presence of a new cooler in addition to the one already present in the console. It is smaller in size, and is believed to be part of the Nintendo Switch 2 dock, which would facilitate thermals of a more powerful charger.

Prior leaks had also suggested that the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware will be equipped with the NVIDIA T239 chip, 8GB RAM, 64GB storage space, and a battery with greatly improved life. Additionally, the handheld’s display will have a refresh rate of 120Hz, leading to the possibility of certain games targeting a frame rate of 120fps. It’s currently unknown whether the display will also support Variable Refresh Rate, but it would certainly make sense for it to do so. The upcoming console is also said to feature an 8-inch LCD display.
