Square Enix has announced that Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are available today on Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made during the Octopath series’ eighth anniversary livestream.
Both games can now be purchased digitally on Nintendo Switch 2 for ¥5,478 each, while a discounted digital bundle containing both titles is also available for ¥6,820. Square Enix also confirmed that digital prices on other modern platforms have been reduced to match the new pricing.
Players who prefer physical editions will be able to purchase a bundled retail release on October 1, with pre-orders now open.
Update: The game is set to release in the West on October 1, coinciding with the retail launch. Today’s launch is exclusive to Japan. Currently, there is no upgrade path or save data transfer available.
Alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, Square Enix announced a free update for the Octopath 0. The update introduces a powerful new challenge in the Monster Arena, featuring an enhanced capture battle followed by a high-difficulty arena encounter.
The livestream also teased the arrival of a new resident in Wishvale. Square Enix described the mysterious character as an “adventurer” from another world. While the publisher did not officially reveal the character’s identity, the silhouette shown during the presentation strongly suggests it is Elliot from The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
