Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are available today on Nintendo Switch 2 following their surprise announcement during the Octopath series’ eighth anniversary livestream.
Square Enix confirmed the release during the anniversary presentation, making both HD-2D role-playing games available on Nintendo’s latest console immediately after the reveal.
The original Octopath Traveler introduced players to eight protagonists, each with their own story across the continent of Orsterra, while Octopath Traveler II expanded the formula with more interconnected narratives, a dynamic day and night system, and new combat mechanics such as Latent Powers.
The series has long been closely associated with Nintendo platforms, with the original game first debuting on the Nintendo Switch. The arrival of both titles on Nintendo Switch 2 gives players another way to experience the acclaimed turn-based RPGs on Nintendo’s newest hardware.
The announcement was made as part of the Octopath series’ eighth anniversary celebration. Square Enix has confirmed that both Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are available on Nintendo Switch 2 starting today.
