Bandai Namco has confirmed that Once Upon a Katamari will launch on October 8, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. On the same day, Katamari Damacy Rolling Live Highlights will also be released, with support for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the other platforms.
For Nintendo Switch 2, Once Upon a Katamari will support up to 4K resolution in TV mode, although challenge gameplay will not run in 4K. The game also supports up to 60 FPS and includes online multiplayer for the Sports Battle mode with up to four players. A Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required for online play.
Bandai Namco confirmed that Once Upon a Katamari does not support cross-save functionality. However, players can transfer save data from the Nintendo Switch version to the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Transfers in the opposite direction are not supported.
The publisher also announced a Reroll Bonus for players who own save data from either Katamari Damacy REROLL or We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie on the same platform. Eligible players will receive the Young King as a playable companion, along with a matching customization option.
A download-only Royal Sound Edition will also be available for ¥12,700 plus tax. It includes the base game, Katamari Damacy Suteki Song Collection Volumes 1 and 2, the Neo Remix Pack, the Dance Dance Remix Pack, and Rolling Live Highlights. Bandai Namco noted that some of this content is also sold separately and advised players to avoid purchasing duplicate items.
The standard digital edition of Once Upon a Katamari will be priced at ¥5,400 plus tax, while the Rolling Live Highlights Edition will retail for ¥6,800 plus tax.
