Leaked gameplay footage from Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios’ upcoming first-person shooter, Payday 3, has emerged online.
A Vietnamese content creator had uploaded unedited leaked gameplay footage from Payday 3 with no cuts on YouTube, but set its privacy setting to ‘Private’ a few hours later. However, the footage can still be seen in its entirety by following the link here.
Based on the leaked footage, the game appears to have received some noteworthy graphical improvements over Payday 2. It is currently running on Unreal Engine 4, though the developers plan on upgrading it to Unreal Engine 5 at some point after launch. In terms of gameplay, Payday 3 looks quite similar to Payday 2 with respect to AI and NPC behavior.
Previously, in its First Quarter 2023 report, Starbreeze Studios had reported that the Payday series had amassed over 38 million players, and the franchise has reached $300 million in gross sales thus far. It was also stated that Payday 3 has been wishlisted by 1 million users on Steam. The company has also stated that it had secured financing for future projects in 2025 and 2027.
Payday 3 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed by Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios, and published by Prime Matter as the third entry in the Payday series. The game is scheduled for release in 2023 and continues the story of the Payday Gang after they had seemingly left their criminal lives behind at the end of Payday 2. However, a new motivation pushes them back into the life of crime.
The game features the original crew of characters from Payday: The Heist, including “Dallas”, “Chains”, “Wolf”, and “Hoxton,” and takes place primarily in New York. Teaser images suggest that one of the missions will be at the “Gold & Sharke Incorporated” bank. Payday 3 is set in the 2020s and includes new challenges, such as more advanced surveillance and the rise of cryptocurrency, to add depth to the Payday Gang’s crimes.
