Pearl Abyss has reportedly rewarded its entire workforce with a special bonus following the strong commercial performance of Crimson Desert. According to Korean outlet Money Today, the company distributed ₩5 million to each employee after the game surpassed 5 million copies sold within its first month.
The report states that the payments were made on April 23 and applied equally across the company, which had 733 employees as of the end of last year. In total, the payout amounted to approximately ₩3.7 billion. Unlike previous incentive programs tied to company performance, this bonus was issued uniformly rather than based on individual evaluations.
CEO Heo Jin-young addressed staff internally, stating, “I express my deep respect and gratitude for the hard work of each and every one of you who created a product that has captivated the world, and I am distributing a bonus to celebrate the achievement of 5 million copies sold to all employees who have quietly fulfilled their roles in their respective positions.” He added, “Our journey does not end here. The potential we have confirmed today will serve as the most powerful driving force to overcome any challenges we face in the future.”
Crimson Desert launched on March 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and macOS. The open-world action title follows mercenary Kliff and his group as they navigate a conflict-ridden fantasy world. The reported sales milestone places the game among the fastest-selling releases in recent months.
The bonus comes after a period in which Pearl Abyss had scaled back incentive payments due to business challenges. A separate performance-based bonus tied to 2026 results is expected to be distributed in early 2027.
