Persona 3 Reload PS5 vs Xbox Series Comparison: Which Platform Is Best

by Muhammad Ali Bari

Sega and Atlus’ role-playing game, Persona 3 Reload, is now available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.

The game offers a single graphics mode across all three consoles. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Persona 3 Reload feature ray-traced reflections, though coverage is fairly limited, with SSR and other techniques like planar reflections used for fallback. The game looks identical across both consoles outside of minor differences in terms of lighting. The Xbox Series S version, on the other hand, lacks ray-traced reflection and exhibits lower shadow resolution.

In terms of resolution, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Persona 3 Reload run at a native resolution of 4K (2160p), with the UI possibly being running at a lower internal resolution. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version runs at a native resolution of 1080p. All three console versions appear to run without any form of anti-aliasing in place.

With regards to performance, all versions of Persona 3 Reload target a frame rate of 60 fps during gameplay, and are able to consistently maintain it consistently. There is one exception, as the Xbox Series X version is seen dipping below 60 fps in the mall section of the game, possibly due to heavy use ray-traced reflections in the area. Meanwhile, cutscenes in Persona 3 Reload across all three consoles target and maintain a frame rate of 30 fps.

Overall, all three console versions of Persona 3 Reload deliver stable performance, though the significantly lower resolution on Xbox Series S despite the lack of ray-traced reflections is disappointing to see. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions deliver a mostly like-for-like experience, and are the recommended platforms to play on console.

Persona 3 Reload is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
