PlayStation started working with Haven early in 2021, when Jade and her group were about to announce the formation of the studio. From the very first pitch, Sony developed interest in the studio’s goal to design a contemporary multiplayer experience that connects players in a meaningful and positive way. The console maker decided to invest in Haven in order to empower the studio to create a fresh, unique PlayStation IP, given its creative and technical ability to execute on such an ambitious project.
Haven’s first new IP for PlayStation is set to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, playfulness. The studio expects that it will keep players entertained and engaged for years to come.
Haven will have the chance to work with other well-established development teams as a SIE first-party studio, including studios like Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, and Insomniac Games. The output from these studios has long served as an inspiration to Jade and her team at Haven. Jade and her team expect to learn from the experience and expertise of the first-party development studios at Sony as well as the core creative, technological, and marketing teams, whose knowledge should help them in creating better games.
The agreement to acquire Haven was filed by PlayStation earlier this year in March 2022. Now that the deal has been closed, the studio is officially a part of the family of PlayStation Studios.
