PlayStation Reportedly Planning More Announcements for Summer Game Fest

PlayStation is planning more announcements for the upcoming Summer Game Fest event, based on the latest report.

According to Twitter/X insider Midori, who has leaked details regarding titles in development at Sega and Square Enix, PlayStation has more announcements in store for Summer Game Fest 2024. She didn’t share any hints like the State of Play leaker, however. Though, if we were to guess, Marvel’s Wolverine and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach are likely to be present at the show. Additionally, there may be a teaser or a reveal trailer for Ghost of Tsushima 2.

During the recent State of Play presentation, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed trailers for a brand new Astro Bot game, Concord, the Until Dawn remake, Monster Hunter Wilds, Path of Exile 2, Silent Hill 2, Alien: Rogue Incursion, Skydance’s Behemoth, Marvel Rivals, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Ballad of Antara, Infinity Nikki, and Where Winds Meet. Some of these titles may also make an appearance at Summer Game Fest. Furthermore, the insider claimed that the upcoming event will bring new details on Metaphor: ReFantazio and Sonic x Shadow Generations.

Other PlayStation games that may possibly receive new trailers include Haven Studios’ Fairgame$, the rumored Gravity Rush 2 remaster, and Phantom Blade Zero. Given how Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is roughly a year away from release, it is highly likely to receive a gameplay reveal at Summer Game Fest.

During the second episode of NHK’s Radio show Hideraj Infinity, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach game director Hideo Kojima shared an update on the game’s progress and its possible release window. He mentioned that the actors have finished recording and filming, implying that both motion capture and voice acting sessions have been completed. He added that the development team at Kojima Productions is currently in a phase where it will spend about a year making adjustments to the game’s direction, clarity, entertainment value, and controls/game feel while reviewing the connections. The game is set for release sometime in 2025.
