Sony Interactive Entertainment has generated nearly $700 million revenue from the release of first party PlayStation titles on PC and other platforms during fiscal year 2023.

Since the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2023, sales of first-party titles on platforms other than PlayStation consoles have been reclassified from Others into Other Software, a new category included within Game Software. Sales amounts for Game Software and Others for Fiscal Year 2022 have also been reclassified to conform to the new categorization.

To clarify, Other Software includes revenue from sales of add-on content in first-party titles, on platforms other than PlayStation consoles. This includes all DLC content and microtransactions in Destiny 2 on Xbox and PC as well as Helldivers 2 on PC. A total of 105,358 million Yen in revenue was generated by Sony Interactive Entertainment via platforms other than PlayStation consoles. This translates to around 677 million US Dollars.

Regarding Helldivers 2, it was also reported during Sony Group’s Fiscal Year 2023 earnings call that Helldivers 2 has sold over 12 million copies as of May 5, 2024. The game has now beaten the sales record previously held by God of War Ragnarok. The figure of 12 million units includes sales across both the PS5 and PC versions of Helldivers 2. Releasing the game day and date on PC has been a major contributing factor in its success. That said, the online third-person shooter hasn’t been without its issue. Helldivers 2 launched with connectivity issues, as the developer wasn’t prepared for the kind of online activity and player count that it achieved.
