A Prince of Persia fan is reportedly offering Ubisoft more than 5 million US Dollars to continue working on The Sands of Time remake.
The proposal comes from a diehard fan (via NachoRB10 on Twitter/X), who has expressed interest in financially supporting the development of The Sands of Time remake following Ubisoft’s decision to cancel the project. In a message addressed to the publisher, the fan described the cancellation as disappointing news for a community that has spent years waiting to experience the renewed adventure.
The fan has an initial budget of more than 5 million Euros that they would be willing to allocate towards exploring the possibility. The proposed financial commitment would depend on a formal agreement, an assessment of the project’s viability, and conditions established by Ubisoft.
According to the message, the offer is not motivated by financial returns. The fan isn’t seeking a share of sales, ownership of the IP, or any creative control over the game. Their stated objective is simply to help ensure that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake reaches players and that the work already completed does not go to waste.

The fan also acknowledged that the final decision rests entirely with Ubisoft, asking only to be directed towards the appropriate department or official channel for submitting a financial proposal. As of writing, the publisher has not responded to their offer.
In February, a leaked PS4 prototype of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake appeared on preservation site Hidden Palace, originating from development work carried out by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai during 2020 and 2021. According to the accompanied information, it is a preload build, a version of the game that would have been downloaded ahead of release so players may begin playing as soon as it is unlocked. However, the game files are encrypted, leaving it unplayable in its current state.
