For those who are out of the loop, these minor updates are usually related to security fixes or exploits that might have been disclosed to Sony. They have a bug bounty program as well that deals with these exploits and they usually reward those who report them.

However, these might not be the only changes as Sony usually makes some under-the-hood fixes that are implemented as part of this firmware update. The last update appeared to add access to authorized apps on the PS4 but this one doesn’t have a similar list of changes.

PS4 is the second best-selling console released by Sony. It has sold more than 120 million units worldwide and it was succeeded by the PS5, which continues to be a sales juggernaut worldwide. Despite being launched more than a decade ago, the PS4 continues to enjoy strong support with games like Street Fighter 5 and Resident Evil 4 Remake released on it. It also received God of War Ragnarok as a cross-generation release from Sony last year.
