PS4 Jailbreak For Firmware 13.00 To 13.52 Has Been Released, Allowing More Users To Play Bloodborne At 60 FPS

A PS4 jailbreak for firmware 13.00 to 13.52 has been released, giving more users to the opportunity to play From Software’s Bloodborne at 60 fps.

The jailbreak method uses the console’s built-in web browser (via ConsciousAide4423 on Reddit), making the process considerably simpler than older methods. Firmware versions up to 13.52 are now supported. The process involves loading the jailbreak through a specially prepared webpage. Once successfully triggered, GoldHEN is loaded onto the PS4, providing access to various features designed for jailbroken consoles. It may not succeed on the first attempt, however, with occasional crashes or memory-related errors requiring the console to be restarted and the process attempted again.

One key feature of the jailbreak is the ability to apply custom patches to games, allowing 30 fps games like Bloodborne to run capped at 60 fps on PS4. GoldHEN’s patch functionality can enable modifications such as disabling motion blur and increasing the game’s frame rate. The patch for From Software’s classic allows it to run at approximately 60 fps at 720p on the PS4 Pro, resulting in much smoother gameplay.

The jailbreak also provides access to homebrew applications, plugins, cheats and other modifications. However, it’s worth clarifying that the jailbreak is tethered, so restarting the PS4 removes the active jailbreak state, meaning GoldHEN must be loaded again via the browser. The installed applications remain on the console but cannot be used until the jailbreak is reloaded.

There is also an important online-safety consideration. PlayStation Network (PSN) remains active on firmware 13.52 despite newer versions being available. Those concerned about a potential PSN ban are advised to completely disconnect the jailbroken PS4 from the internet using Wi-Fi and/or an Ethernet connection. For those looking to delve deeper, there are also ways to entirely block the PS4 from connecting to PSN servers while retaining access to the internet.

As always, users should proceed carefully, avoid installing unofficial files from untrusted sources, and understand the risks involved before modifying their console.
