A jailbreak for PS5 firmware 14.10 may now be possible following the apparent discovery of a new kernel exploit.
Known scene developer gezine_dev has apparently discovered a new kernel exploit for PS5 firmware 14.10, suggesting that those who updated past firmware 13.60 may soon be able to jailbreak their consoles. They recently took to Twitter/X to share a brief video clip showing the hack in action.
The hacker mentioned that the kernel exploit they used to achieve the firmware 13.xx jailbreak was patched with firmware 14.00. They clarified that their hack is new and not the same as the “relapse” exploit that was originally shared by modders Nathan Fargo and Sonic ISO.
As far as reading game files from the console memory is concerned, the scene developer said that the old method for dumping executables doesn’t work on firmware 14.xx and that a hypervisor exploit may be required to gain access to that functionality.
Recently, it was reported that a hacker known as ZigZagBoi1 is investigating potential kernel vulnerabilities in the latest PS5 firmware, with an open-source GitHub repository documenting the research, test logs and possible attack vectors. He is encouraging other hackers to contribute, even if they don’t own a PS5. The repository contains technical findings, raw test results and research notes that can be fed into AI models for further analysis. The hacker specifically wants AI assistance in identifying overlooked kernel pointer patterns, examining FreeBSD source code, discovering new attack vectors and developing strategies to defeat KASLR. The project also has a hardware funding goal of 350 CA Dollars to purchase another PS5 for physical kernel data extraction and further testing. 293.05 CA Dollars have been raised as of writing.
ZigZagBoi1 mentioned that he could jailbreak PS5 firmware 14.10 before the release of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series on November 19, 2026, provided he gets help from the hacking community. Among the intended goals is to dump GTA VI game files and run it on PC via PS5 emulation/translation.
