PS5 System Software Update 7.2 Features
A quick recap of all the features included in the latest PS5 firmware update can be seen below.
- improved system software performance and stability.
- improved the messages and usability on some screens.
The previous major system software update for the PS5 brought 1440p support, gamelists, and brand new social features, including the ability to request a Share Screen from a fellow party member, easily view new friends’ profiles, and receive a notification to help you join a friend’s game more quickly from a party chat. Additionally, the update allowed players to compare 3D audio and stereo audio on the same screen and more easily access in-progress Activities from game hubs.
A subsequent firmware update added VRR support at 1440p and Discord voice chat integration. It also introduced a variety of UX, accessibility and social feature enhancements that make playing with friends easier than before. For example, players can now send a Share Screen request or start sharing their screen with a friend, directly from their profile. On the voice chat card, a joinable icon will be displayed for party members playing a game you can join. In game hubs, players have the opportunity to see which of their friends own a particular game, who is currently online, and who is currently playing said game. The ability to manually select and upload individual screenshots or game clips to PS App from the PS5 was also added in the aforementioned update.
