However, this does not mean that Pyschonauts 3 won’t happen in the future. It’s just not what Double Fine Productions has been working on. Schafer didn’t share any details regarding the unannounced title.

Psychonauts 2 is a platformer developed by Double Fine and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game was revealed at The Game Awards 2015, and it was released on August 25, 2021, for PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, as well as on May 24, 2022, for Linux and macOS.

Raz, a young acrobat in training to join an international task force that uses psychic abilities to stop people who carry out evil deeds with their own psychic forces, is controlled by the player, just like in the game’s predecessor. The events of the interstitial virtual reality game Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin are directly continued in Psychonauts 2, which picks up right where the former ended. The Psychonauts attempt to discover who was really responsible for the capture of their leader while also unravelling the complex mystery surrounding the establishment of the group and Raz’s ancestry. Raz explores the characters’ mental worlds in search of hints to solve the mystery. Raz can use a variety of new and familiar psychic abilities in these mindscapes to get around the frequently perverted minds and fight the mental creatures they give rise to. Along with new additions like Mental Connection, which Raz uses to connect floating points, many powers from the first game make their return.
