Reanimal has won the Excellent Swedish Design Award 2026, with Tarsier Studios receiving the prestigious honour from His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip of Sweden. The award was presented on August 27, recognising the studio’s work on environmental storytelling, atmosphere and interactive design in its co-op horror game.

The award, known as Utmärkt Svensk Form, is presented by Svensk Form and celebrates notable examples of Swedish design. According to the jury, Reanimal demonstrates how video games can function as an artistic medium through its approach to visual expression, storytelling and interactive design.

The jury praised the game for encouraging players to explore its environments, interpret what they encounter and create their own understanding of its world. It also highlighted the consistency and precision of Tarsier’s approach to environmental storytelling and atmosphere.

Tarsier Studios CEO Oliver Merlöv said the recognition from Svensk Form was particularly meaningful for the studio. He added that the team is proud to contribute to Sweden’s cultural identity through games, while the different creative backgrounds and sources of inspiration among its developers help shape the studio’s work.

Reanimal has already received multiple awards and earned praise from players, content creators and critics around the world. The game’s first chapter of its three-part Expanded World DLC campaign, Reanimal: The Prisoner, is also now available.
