Here’s Why Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Not Available On Nintendo Switch

by Salal Awan

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PS4 and Xbox One. If you own a Nintendo Switch hardware, chances are that you might be wondering why it hasn’t released on it.

Nintendo President and Chief Operating Officer Reggie Fils-Aimé was interviewed recently by Hollywood Reporter. He talked about a potential Red Dead Redemption 2 release on the Nintendo Switch and why it hasn’t happened yet.

When the interviewer brought the question of Red Dead Redemption 2 and if Nintendo will be interested to bring it to their console, Reggie shared the following response.

“Absolutely. We’d love for it to be there. But again — and this is where there needs to be an understanding of just the development process — Red Dead has been in development for years, time that predated any communication of Nintendo Switch. So, from the developer’s mentality, they need to move forward and finish the game they’ve been working on and then be in a position to look at other opportunities. Any game from a key third-party that’s coming out now, typically that development started well before any conversations about Nintendo Switch. What happens moving forward? We’ll see. But that’s how you wind up with a situation with Red Dead not being available on our platform.”

While the more common answer is that the Nintendo Switch is just not powerful enough to run the game, this was a rather long response from Reggie on something so trivial.
