RGG Studio’s Like a Dragon Direct livestream earlier today brought exciting news for fans waiting for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The broadcast showed new gameplay footage, features, and updates for the pirate-themed action-adventure game, launching next month on February 21.
Key highlights of the livestream included details on the game’s various locations, immersive combat mechanics, and extensive customization options. Players can expect intense battles both on land and at sea, enhanced by ship customization and crew-building systems. The developers also revealed several side activities that add depth to the gameplay. Additionally, New Game+ was announced as a free post-launch update, encouraging players to continue exploring after finishing the main campaign.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii allows players to step into the shoes of Goro Majima, an ex-yakuza who becomes a pirate captain after being shipwrecked and losing his memory. Alongside a young boy named Noah, Majima navigates conflicts with ruthless pirates, criminals, and treasure hunters while uncovering his forgotten past and searching for a legendary treasure.
In this game, players can upgrade their ships, recruit a crew, and explore the open sea while engaging in real-time naval battles. They must outmaneuver enemy vessels, unleash powerful cannon attacks, and board rival ships to claim victory.
Majima can switch between two fighting styles: the “Mad Dog” style, which emphasizes agility and precision, and the “Sea Dog” style, which focuses on dual-wielded swords and creative pirate tools for powerful takedowns.
During an interview, the developers discussed the game length of Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, stating that it will be longer than the previous Like A Dragon spin-off.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam.
