Rockstar Games has announced that it will no longer be offering major content updates for RDR Online, as the studio’s resources shift towards the development of GTA 6.
GTA Online fans need not be concerned, however, as, according to the latest blog post on Rockstar Games’ official website, the studio will continue to bring large updates to the game for the foreseeable future. However, RDR Online fans aren’t as lucky, as, in an effort to speed up development on GTA 6, the studio will not be able to continue providing major content updates for the game.
The post mentions that GTA V is currently at the peak of its popularity, with more players than ever taking to the streets of Los Santos thanks to the recent launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar will be working to improve the overall GTA Online experience with new gameplay updates, adding top community-requested experience improvements and upgrades to make it easier for players to enjoy everything GTA Online has to offer.
The criminal careers of Executive, Biker, Gunrunner, and Nightclub Owner will be expanded in the next update for GTA Online on all platforms, along with a series of contact missions that provide the chance to be sworn in as a special IAA field operative to look into a developing criminal conspiracy.
This update will also include other long-overdue community requests, such the option to initiate Sell Missions during Invite Only sessions, a more simple way to get food and armor, and a reduction in the efficacy of homing missiles and countermeasures on the Oppressor Mk II. These are just a few of the user-experience upgrades that GTA Online will receive this summer as we continue to incorporate player input and other lessons learned.
As for RDR Online, while Rockstar does plan to build upon existing modes and add new Telegram Missions this year, the studio has made it clear that it will no longer be delivering major themed content updates for the wild west-themed online game like in previous years.
