Rockstar Reportedly Won’t Send GTA 6 Review Codes to Media Ahead of Launch

by Ali Haider

Rockstar Games may be planning an unusually strict review process for Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of launch, according to new claims from Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe.

As reported by Portal Viciados, Lippe stated on the X do Controle podcast that Rockstar intends to invite journalists to a closed location to test the game under controlled conditions, rather than sending traditional review copies home.

According to the report, Rockstar is allegedly implementing the approach as part of a maximum-security effort designed to prevent leaks surrounding one of the industry’s most anticipated releases. Lippe claimed that “no one will receive the key to this game” for remote review purposes.

Rockstar Games has not officially commented on the report, and the company has yet to outline its media review plans for GTA 6.

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch worldwide on November 19, 2026, following multiple delays. The game is being developed and published by Rockstar Games for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Set in the fictional state of Leonida, heavily inspired by modern-day Florida, the game marks a return to Vice City and follows the protagonists Lucia and Jason as they become involved in criminal operations, conspiracies, and large-scale heists across the open world.
