Rumour Claims Devil May Cry Remake Is in Development at Capcom

by Ali Haider

Fresh rumours suggest Capcom may be working on a remake of the original Devil May Cry.

The claim comes from social media user MajorPlayeix, who stated that a remake of the 2001 action classic is currently in development. In a series of posts, the leaker appeared to reinforce earlier reports that have circulated within the gaming community.

“Let’s be blunt about it. You’re getting a DMC1 Remake. Yes. just like those rumors said,” MajorPlayeix wrote.

The leaker later added, “Yes. I spoke to the guy. I’ve been busy for the past couple of days, but finally I’m open to doing stuff. I’m just covering Capcom stuff to clarify. Everything will come to those who wait. Capcom’s looking pretty up.”

When asked about the project’s progress, MajorPlayeix claimed, “Hearing it’s pretty far along actually but I’ll have to see for myself before making any release/trailer date bets.”

Capcom has not announced a remake of Devil May Cry. As with all unconfirmed reports, the information should be treated as speculation until officially verified.

The original Devil May Cry launched in 2001 and introduced players to Dante, establishing a combat-focused formula that would go on to define the character action genre. The series has since expanded into multiple sequels and spin-off media, becoming one of Capcom’s most recognisable franchises.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement to learn whether Dante’s first adventure is indeed set to receive the remake treatment.
