Screenshots from the canceled Blizzard survival game, Project Odyssey, have found their way on the internet.
Blizzard had recently canceled Project Odyssey, but it looks like someone managed to get a hold of some screenshots from the most recent build and share them on social media. They include gameplay footage as well as menu screens and the in-game radial UI for tools, consumables, and placeable objects.
Project Odyssey Leaked Screenshots
Leaked screenshots from the canceled Blizzard survival game, Project Odyssey, can be seen below.
Going by the screenshots, Project Odyssey features inventory management, crafting, and other survival mechanics. It seems like a game where squads of players explore an open world space in an effort to fight and outlast each other. It appears to be based in a medieval setting. The weapons at your disposal include a bow and arrow.
Previously, during an episode of The Xbox Two podcast, Jez Corden had stated that Blizzard’s unannounced survival game, Odyssey, would have been a multiplatform release.According to him, the game was at a point in development where it was very close to being completed as a multiplatform title. He believed that it wouldn’t have made sense for Microsoft to have canceled the PlayStation version post-acquisition. In the end, though, Microsoft and Blizzard ended up canceling the game altogether.
Corden had seen gameplay footage from Project Odyssey, and he found it to look very similar to Rare’s Everwild. In terms of gameplay, it reminded him of Fallout 76, though he mentioned that he didn’t think it was an MMO. According to him, the game would allow players to make their own vendors, like a potion shop that sells items to other players. The early footage Jez saw showed off fancy machinery in a fairy tale aesthetic, giving it a very distinct feel. He had also revealed that Project Odyssey was played from a first-person perspective, and the main character carried a bow and arrow, which can be verified by the above leaked screenshots.
