Sony Interactive Entertainment will have the memory supply to meet its projected hardware sales as it prepares for the PS6 launch in the next fiscal year.

In its second quarter Fiscal Year 2026 consolidated financial report for the 3 months ended on September 30, 2026, Sony Group confirmed that it had reached an agreement with various suppliers on the quantity of memory needed to support its projected hardware sales in the next fiscal year. The announcement comes amid rising memory prices and growing concerns about supply constraints affecting the electronics industry. “Regarding memory procurement for next fiscal year, based on discussions held so far with various suppliers, we have aligned on the quantity of memory needed for our projected hardware unit sales,” the company revealed.

The company also addressed the impact of rising memory costs on current-generation hardware, revealing that it has managed to offset the increased expenses through adjustments to promotional activities and pricing, alongside additional cost-reduction measures. Sony expects PS5 hardware profitability for the current fiscal year to remain on par with the previous fiscal year.

Sony Interactive Entertainment also confirmed that preparations for its next-generation console, the PS6, would make “solid progress” during the next fiscal year. It also acknowledged that PS5 hardware sales are gradually declining, as expected at this stage of the console’s life cycle, although the PlayStation business itself continues to expand. The company intends to strengthen user engagement and monetization through major game releases and expanded services.

The company’s Game & Network Services division delivered strong results during the quarter, recording sales of 1.2085 trillion Yen, a 9% year-on-year increase, and operating income of 220.1 billion Yen, up 83%. PlayStation Network monthly active users reached a September record of 127 million accounts, representing a 7% increase year-on-year.

While the console maker has yet to officially announce the PS6, securing the required memory quantities for projected hardware sales bodes well for its launch.
