Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly planning on bringing its PS Plus subscription service to PC, mobile, browser, and television.
Among the recent spell of leaks involving Insomniac Games’ future titles are presentation slides on the future of PS Plus, which go into detail about expanding the reach of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s subscription service to PC, mobile, browser, and smart TV.
In future, Sony Interactive Entertainment plans on making PS Plus “the most exciting and desirable entertainment membership service globally. The company intends on doing this by broadening distribution and creating new customer relationships by expanding to mobile, PC, smart TV, and browser.
With regards to mobile, Sony plans on creating a services value proposition using third-party and first-party content that customer value and also utilizing locally relevant commercial models. On PC, Sony plans on expanding the addressable market and be a major driver of Live Service engagement of PlayStation Studios’ PC games. The company wants to expand Game Streaming on mobile, TV, and browser to aid in the acquisition of more subscribers.
Sony Interactive Entertainment also plans on improving attach and retention by offering value to a wider variety of PlayStation players. Additionally, the company is looking to enrich PS Plus via partnerships for entertainment variety and new possibilities in relation to game content.
Previously, during an interview, Eric Lempel, Senior Vice President, Head of Worldwide Marketing, Sales, Business Operations & Consumer Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment, revealed that, since the introduction of the three PS Plus tiers, a third of the user base that is subscribed to the service has opted for the upper two tiers, namely PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. He added that this ratio is higher than what Sony Interactive Entertainment had expected. Regarding the recent price hike for all three PS Plus tiers, Lempel said that the console maker intends to make PlayStation Plus great.
