Respawn and EA is reportedly working on a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which is targeting a release in 2022 and will be announced soon.
While the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is no secret, Respawn Entertainment has been busy with multiple teams including working on Apex Legends, a brand new project, and a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order.
In a new podcast by Jeff Grubb (via Nibel), he mentions that the sequel is being planned for an announcement soon, before E3. This could suggest that the game is close to revealing and possibly in May. The reveal in May is perfect for the May the 4th celebration event based on the Star Wars franchise. It could be getting an announcement during this event and with a release window of 2022.
The sequel is coming after the launch of the first game in 2019, so if it manages to reach its targeted release date of 2022, then it will take exactly 3 years. Jeff Grubb does mention that there is a possibility of the game slipping to 2023, so in that case, we are talking about a 4 years wait between the first game and the sequel.
Jedi: Fallen Order was a brand new game set in the Star Wars universe. It was canon to the movies and featured a brand new character. The game mixed third-person action, platforming, and interactive story-telling and was released to critical and commercial acclaim. It was directed by Stig Asmussen, who previously worked on God of War 3.
The game was a massive success for EA and Respawn. It sold more than 8 million copies and was one of the best-selling games of the year in 2019 and 2020. It is now available to play through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play.
