EA and Respawn Entertainment’s forthcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will feature both fast travel and rideable creatures.
The director of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Stig Asmussen, has revealed in the forthcoming issue of Play Magazine (via) that the game will feature fast travel as well as rideable creatures to travel across the game’s world.
According to Asmussen, the game will feature both fast travel and mounts players can ride to help players quickly get from one point to another, and back. He explained that the fast travel is point to point, and the rideable creatures offer a way to quickly negotiate between points and explore what is in between.
Earlier, Asmussen had also shared details regarding the traversal mechanics, stances, and story beats in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. Cal has access to some new traversal mechanics in Jedi Survivor, which will help in making exploration feel more natural and intuitive. He can chain a number of new skills to climb and get cross larger gaps. In terms of design, the game takes up a wider Metroidvania approach, as per him.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor features a host of new, fully realized stances that Cal Kestis can use. There are five stances in total for players to shuffle between. According to Asmussen, the utility of each stance depends on the enemy that you’re up against. It’s more useful to use certain types of stances against certain types of enemies, and it’s up to the player to figure that out by breaking down the enemies and figuring out what the best weapon of choice is for every type of combat encounter.
The game is bringing back beloved characters like BD-1 and Cere Junda in addition to introducing fresh faces, such as mercenary Bode Akuna. He and Cal share a unique bond, according to Asmussen. He describes them as brothers, and although they’re not exactly the same, they work well together. During gameplay, Bode serves as an AI buddy character who helps Cal both with traversal and combat.
