Spike Chunsoft Investigating Steins;Gate RE:Boot Launch Issues on Xbox and Steam

Spike Chunsoft is investigating two issues affecting Steins;Gate RE:Boot, one preventing some players from launching the game on Xbox Series X|S and another affecting downloadable content on Steam. The publisher confirmed both problems in a post on its official X account, shortly after the game’s console release.

On Xbox Series X|S, the issue prevents players from launching the game while connected to a network. Spike Chunsoft has not clarified whether the problem also affects offline play or provided an estimated timeframe for a fix.

The Steam issue concerns Steins;Gate: Octet of Shifting Space, which is not being delivered to users’ installation folders as intended. The publisher is investigating the problem.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this issue,” the post said.

Steins;Gate RE:Boot launched on PC through Steam on August 20, 2026. Its console versions followed on October 29, arriving on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

First revealed during the franchise’s 15th-anniversary event, the remake features redrawn visuals by original character designer huke, expanded event stills and E-mote character animations. The original voice cast has also recorded all dialogue again, while composer Takeshi Abo has rebuilt the soundtrack.

Other changes include refined narrative pacing and additional story content. This includes a new “Gamma” worldline route with its own ending.

The franchise was created by 5pb. and Nitroplus, beginning with the original visual novel in 2009. It gained a wider international audience following White Fox’s 2011 anime adaptation.
