Stellar Blade Dominates April Sales, Sea Of Thieves & Grounded Perform Well On PS4/PS5

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Shift Up’s action adventure game, Stellar Blade, has dominated sales charts in the US during the month of April, 2024.

Matt Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana (NPD), took to Twitter/X to share the US sales charts for April, 2024, and it turns out that Stellar Blade dominated by taking the #1 spot. It is followed by Arrowhead Studios’ Helldivers 2 at #2, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 at #3.

While Stellar Blade taking the top position in April’s sales charts is undoubtedly very impressive for a brand new IP, Piscatella also mentioned that the game had the lowest sales to lead an April since Prototype 2 ranked #1 in April, 2012.

Furthermore, the Executive Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana shared that Sea of Thieves was the 4th best-selling game of April, 2024, following its launch on PlayStation platforms during the month. The title had ranked 55th on the March best-selling titles chart. Sea of Thieves ended up being the 3rd best-selling title on PlayStation platforms during the month of April, 2024. Needless to say that the game performed very well on PS5. Meanwhile, Grounded jumped from the 167th spot in the March, 2024, best-selling titles chat to 12th place in April, 2024. It is the 9th best-selling game on PlayStation platforms during the month.

Fallout games also performed strongly in April, following the debut of the Amazon Prime television series. Bethesda Game Studios’ action role-playing game ranked 5th on the April, 2024, charts, after finishing March, 2024, at #87, while Fallout 76 jumped from the 159th spot in March to 8th place in April, 2024.

The chart for Year-to-Date sales ending April, 2024 is led by Helldivers 2 at the #1 spot, followed by Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 at #2, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 taking 3rd place . Stellar Blade, which has only been available for a month, currently ranks at #16.
