Stellar Blade suffers from a high input lag problem on the PS5 but while the game is not out yet, there is a fix that currently works with the demo.
If you are playing the newly launched Stellar Blade demo, you might be suffering from a high degree of input lag when controlling Eve, the titular heroine of the game. The developers appear to think that enabling game mode on your display might solve this issue, but the problem is not as simple.
Thankfully, there is a fix for this problem based on the experience of some users who have reported that it works. Even if this is a temporary fix, it can still help you get improved latency and experience in the Stellar Blade demo.
How To Fix Input Lag In Stellar Blade
You need to go into your settings on PS5. Go into the System menu and then navigate to the HDMI option. You will see the option “Enable HDCP” is turned on, so make sure to turn it off. You can do it by toggling the bar for this option. Once it is disabled, you can go back to playing the Stellar Blade demo and the input lag should be reduced now.
If you are wondering what HDCP does, it is a built-in mechanism on PS5 for copyright protection. You can keep it turned off without much issue, but if you do encounter a problem later, there is no harm in turning it back on. Just keep in mind that turning it off can reduce input lag and in the case of a game like Stellar Blade, every little bit of reduced lag helps to improve the experience.
Stellar Blade will be available on April 26, 2024, exclusively for the PS5. The game is being developed by Shift Up and will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
