Sword of the Sea Could Be Coming to Xbox, According to New Store Listing

by Salal Awan

Sword of the Sea has appeared on the Xbox Store despite developer Giant Squid never announcing an Xbox version of the action-adventure game. The listing appears to be the first indication that the title could be coming to Microsoft’s platform, although its release plans have yet to be officially confirmed.

The game originally launched on August 19, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It also arrived on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on release day, allowing subscribers to access it without an additional purchase.

Developed by Giant Squid, Sword of the Sea centres on the Wraith, who travels across a desolate world on a magical hoversword. Its movement system draws inspiration from surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding, with players gliding across expansive landscapes while working to restore life to the environment.

The studio was founded by creative director Matt Nava and is also known for ABZÛ and The Pathless. Its games are recognised for their distinctive art direction, movement-focused gameplay and atmospheric soundtracks.
