Final Fantasy Resonance has surpassed 42,000 concurrent players on Steam, setting a new peak for a single-player entry in Square Enix’s long-running RPG franchise. The game launched globally on October 22, 2026, and has already drawn a substantial audience on PC.
The new milestone puts Final Fantasy Resonance ahead of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which previously held the record for the highest peak concurrent player count among the franchise’s single-player games on Steam, with more than 40,000 players. Other recent entries, including Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy XVI, recorded lower peaks of approximately 29,500 and 27,500 players, respectively.
The franchise’s overall Steam record remains with Final Fantasy XIV Online. The MMORPG attracted more than 95,000 concurrent players during the launch of its Endwalker expansion, although its multiplayer nature puts it in a different category from the series’ single-player releases.
Final Fantasy Resonance launched across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Its HD-2D presentation combines classic sprite-based visuals with three-dimensional environments, giving the latest entry a retro-inspired aesthetic.
