Tekken 8 Producer Confirms Adjustments To Combo & Chip Damage In Final Release

Tekken 8 producer, Katsuhiro Harada, has confirmed that the game’s final release will come with adjustments to combo and chip damage.

In response to a fan who praised the Tekken 8 Closed Network Test and thanked the Producer, Katsuhiro Harada confirmed on Twitter that the final build of the game will include adjustments to combo and chip damage. He added that this was merely intended as a test for network battle and matchmaking, and that the game system is still in a bare-bones state.

Harada expressed appreciation for the positive reviews that the Closed Network Test had received from fans. However, he acknowledged that there are many things that need to be improved, such as combos that are too long, chip damage pressure, and overly flashy multi-layered effects that make it difficult to grasp one’s own state. He revealed that Tekken 8 will undergo many changes by launch, including changes to the heat system.

Previously, Harada had shared that Tekken 8 will feature single-player playable modes, extra modes, and storylines. He refrained from mentioning any specific details for now, but said that he’ll be able to share more in this regard before the game’s release date. He stated that he very much value the completeness and value of the game as a whole.

He also confirmed that he doesn’t have any plans to bring guest characters in the initial roster, as it had happened with Akuma for Tekken 7. Akuma was later confirmed to be a key part of the story in the Tekken franchise, and, therefore, wasn’t labeled as a guest character. Tekken 7 had many guest characters, including Noctics, Negan, and Geese. They went on to become some off the favorites of professional players. Tekken 8 may too eventually receive guest characters, but it’s likely to happen sometime after launch, as the development team is currently in the process of finalizing the main roster.
