Tekken 8 Has Been Rated In South Korea

Bandai Namco Entertainment’s latest entry in the Tekken fighting game series, Tekken 8, has been rated in South Korea.

In a new listing filed on August 11, 2023, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has rated Tekken 8. As per the Game Rating classification in Korea, the game has been rated 15+, and is therefore suitable for 15 year olds and above.

Tekken 8 rated

According to the reason cited for this rating, the classification decision states that Tekken 8 features limited violence, which involves continuous fighting. Therefore, in accordance with Article 21 of the Game Industry Promotion Act and Article 7 Subparagraph 3 of the Rating Regulations, the game was determined suitable for 15 year olds and above.

Previously, the full launch character roster for Tekken 8 had allegedly been leaked. It originated from a closed beta test of Tekken 8, during which some players datamined the game. An offscreen image was later discovered, appearing to showcase all the fighters that will be available at the game’s launch. With 32 fighters in total and a new announcement at Evo 2023, this leak has proven to be accurate.

Earlier, Tekken 8 Producer, Katsuhiro Harada, had shared that he doesn’t have any plans to bring guest characters in the initial roster, as it had happened with Akuma for Tekken 7. Akuma was later confirmed to be a key part of the story in the previous entry, and, therefore, wasn’t labeled as a guest character. Tekken 7 had many guest characters, including Noctics, Negan, and Geese. They went on to become some off the favorites of professional players. Tekken 8 may too eventually receive guest characters, but it’s likely to happen sometime after launch, as the development team is currently in the process of finalizing the main roster.

Tekken 8 is an upcoming fighting game co-developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Serving as the eighth primary and tenth overall entry in the Tekken series, the game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
