Terminator is getting an officially licensed video game, Terminator Resistance. This was revealed with a trailer today and confirmed for consoles and PC.
Terminator Resistance is a single-player first-person shooter by developer Reef Entertainment. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have that great of a track record. They have previously worked on the licensed Rambo Video Game which was critically panned. To give them some benefit of the doubt, Terminator Resistance actually looks pretty good.
The trailer does appear to show gameplay moments along with a lot of cinematic action. It is not confirmed if these are indeed the real-time visuals or they were all part of a pre-rendered trailer. The game looks great and the small snippets of gameplay looked decent enough, but the important point is the story.
This video game has been officially licensed to use Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 so the story will be supposedly set during these two movies.
Here is an overview of the story taken from the YouTube trailer.
Terminator: Resistance introduces a new hero, Jacob Rivers, a soldier in the Resistance Pacific Division. Despite the fact that Jacob is just a private, he’ll soon discover that he’s been targeted by the latest threat from SKYNET and marked for termination! SKYNET may be destined to lose this war, but at what cost to Jacob? Experience the events leading up to the decisive final battle, smash SKYNET’s Defence Grid and help decide the fate of mankind in the war against the machines!
The game is slated for a release on November 15, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
