State of Play Announced For September 24, Here’s What Might Be Shown

Sony has announced a State of Play for September 24. This will be live-streamed on YouTube and Twitch just like the previous events and will likely show upcoming games.

Sony has started this new way of delivering games announcement through their social media channels. They have avoided almost every mega event this year including E3, Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show. They are fully committed to their next-generation console, which has been rumored to launch in late 2020.

State of Play is the new event managed by Sony to deliver game announcements for their platform. It is similar to how Nintendo holds its own Nintendo Direct. Microsoft also similarly holds Inside Xbox events for game announcements.

While Sony didn’t share any details on what they are planning to show in this State of Play, this is the same date when they have a media event for The Last of Us Part 2. We have heard rumors in the past that the release date for the game will be announced before October and with the media event, there is a good chance they will show The Last of Us Part 2 and confirm its release date.

State of Play is also likely going to include upcoming games like MediEvil, Concrete Genie and possibly reveal more updates that are planned for Dreams. Right now, there is not a whole lot of information available for it but another game that could make the cut is Death Stranding. It had a big gameplay blowout at Tokyo Game Show 2019 but there is still room to show a lot more ahead of its launch in November.
