The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will launch on September 29, CD Projekt Red has announced during gamescom Opening Night Live. The upgraded version will arrive on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, alongside native versions for Nintendo Switch 2 and Battle.net.
The Remastered release will introduce a wide range of improvements to the acclaimed RPG, including upgraded visuals and performance, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, revamped mount handling and new effects for Witcher Signs.
CD Projekt Red is also adding enhanced monster behaviours, a redesigned skill tree, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode and new finishers. The Remastered version is being presented as a substantial upgrade to the original experience rather than simply a visual update.
Existing owners of The Witcher 3 will receive the Remastered upgrade at no additional cost on qualifying platforms. The game is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 as a native version for the first time, with pre-orders already available.
Alongside the Remastered announcement, CD Projekt Red provided the first look at Songs of the Past, the game’s upcoming paid expansion. The expansion will launch in 2027 and introduce the new region of Letten, a seemingly peaceful land built around rural traditions and folklore.
Letten’s idyllic appearance hides a darker secret, with Geralt facing new enemies and a long-dormant threat beneath the region’s surface. The expansion will also introduce new abilities and a new weapon in the form of a chain, while bringing back some familiar characters.
Songs of the Past will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The expansion is already available to wishlist on select platforms.
CD Projekt Red is also making the original Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions available at no additional cost to existing owners of The Witcher 3. Players can therefore experience both expansions before the Remastered version launches in September.
The company has also announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment that will bring The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and Songs of the Past to Battle.net. Players who purchase the expansion through Blizzard’s platform will receive a Geralt-inspired skin for Diablo 4, with additional details planned for BlizzCon in September.
Songs of the Past is being co-developed by Fool’s Theory, a studio with Witcher 3 veterans among its leadership. The Remastered version is being co-developed with Yigsoft, which has previously worked on The Witcher 3.
