Too Kyo Games has shared an update on the commercial trajectory of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy while also expressing interest in exploring a potential Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade. Speaking in an interview with us, Director Kazutaka Kodaka commented on sales performance, long-term ambitions for the title, and the possibility of additional platforms in the future. His remarks suggest the team remains optimistic about the game’s growth, even as it continues working toward full profitability.

When asked directly whether a Switch 2 version was planned, Kodaka offered a measured but hopeful response. “We haven’t decided on anything yet, but I would like to make it happen,” he said. The studio’s outlook on sales also appears positive. Addressing the question of whether development costs had been fully recovered, he explained, “Thanks to the support of so many people, we were able to pay off all the money TooKyo Games borrowed to complete this game. We haven’t reached the break-even point yet, but sales are steadily increasing. We’ll continue to promote The Hundred Line and strive to boost sales even further. We want to use the profits to support new languages, create DLC, and invest in ways that will make Hundred Lines even more exciting.”

The director also touched on the future of the IP, clarifying that The Hundred Line is intended to evolve over a long period through added content and other media. In discussing whether a follow-up title was under consideration, he noted, “The Hundred Line aims to be a game that continues selling for over ten years through various initiatives such as doing media mixes and creating DLC. At the same time, we will also work on new titles.”

Regarding broader availability, Kodaka said platform expansion remains uncertain and is dependent on the publisher. “This will ultimately be decided by Aniplex, but for now, we have no plans to release it on other platforms. However, if there is significant demand, we would consider it,” he explained.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy was released on April 24, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Co-developed by Too Kyo Games and Media.Vision, the game brings together talent behind Danganronpa and Zero Escape to create a hybrid of narrative-driven visual novel storytelling and grid-based tactical combat. Players follow Takumi Sumino and a group of students forced to defend their academy for 100 days using supernatural abilities known as Hemoanima.
