A script for a sequel to Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted movie, Uncharted 2, has been written.

Speaking during an interview, actor while promoting his upcoming film, The Family Plan, Mark Wahlberg confirmed that the Uncharted 2 movie is currently in development, and that a script has already been written.

Wahlberg mentioned that he had heard lots of different ideas regarding the sequel’s storyline. He mentioned that somebody’s written a script, though they’re still working on it. He added that the Uncharted 2 movie would require him to have his mustache the whole time. He clarified that this completely makes sense, as he had a mustache in the final scene of the first movie.

He delved into further detail regarding his mustache, stating that he had spent quite a bit of time growing it, as, at one point, the creative team tried to make the first movie work with a fake mustache, but he didn’t have the confidence to pull it off. He added that it just feels like there’s a big piece of tape over his mouth, and, as a result, it feels ridiculous to him. He said that he admires actors who can wear wigs, prosthetics, and makeup etc. He did successfully wear one prosthetic, but that was long ago.

Wahlberg mentioned that when he finally got the mustache, people really appreciated it. According to him, it was a nice tag to the end of the first film. Therefore, he said that if the creative team can make Uncharted 2 better than the first movie, he’d be open to it. However, he currently only knew as much about the project as anybody else.

Uncharted is a 2022 film directed by Ruben Fleischer, featuring a screenplay by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. It is based on the game franchise of the same name. The main cast includes Tom Holland in the role of Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Supporting roles are played by Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas. The storyline follows Drake, recruited by Sullivan, as they race against corrupt billionaire Santiago Moncada (played by Banderas) and mercenary leader Jo Braddock (played by Gabrielle) to locate the fabled treasure of the Magellan expedition.
