Windrose Surpasses 2 Million Copies Sold in Early Access

by Greg Martin

Windrose has officially surpassed 2 million copies sold following its early access release on PC earlier this year.

The milestone was announced by developer Kraken Express through the game’s official social media account. “Don’t mind us, just two GOATs looking at each other…” the studio wrote while thanking players for their continued support. The team added, “We’re deeply grateful for your support and will keep working hard to make this adventure worthy of your time and passion, captains!”

Developed by Uzbekistan-based studio Kraken Express and published in partnership with Pocketpair, Windrose launched in early access on April 14, 2026. The game is currently available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are planned for a later release.

Windrose is a PvE open-world survival adventure set in an alternate Age of Piracy. Players step into the role of a shipwrecked captain tasked with building a naval empire, crafting gear, and commanding customizable ships across dangerous waters.

The game combines soulslike-inspired land-based melee combat with large-scale naval battles at sea, including encounters with legendary pirates such as Blackbeard. Players can explore procedurally generated islands either solo or cooperatively with up to eight players.
