Unknown Worlds Entertainment has announced that more than 1 million players have already jumped into Subnautica 2 following the game’s early access launch.

The milestone was confirmed through the official Subnautica social media account, where the studio said, “Over 1 million Subnauts have already dived into Subnautica 2. We can’t thank you enough for your support!”

Subnautica 2 launched in early access on May 14, 2026, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, alongside Xbox Series X/S. Developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment and co-published by Krafton, the sequel once again centers around underwater survival on an alien world.

Players take on the role of a stranded pioneer exploring a new planet while gathering resources, crafting equipment, and building bases to survive hostile environments beneath the ocean surface. The sequel also introduces optional four-player cooperative multiplayer, marking a major addition compared to previous entries in the series.

The game features expanded base-building systems and new genetic evolution mechanics, powered by Unreal Engine 5.
