Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Gets Its First Review, Main Story Length Revealed
The main story length in Sega and Atlus’ upcoming role-playing game, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, has been revealed via its first review.
The latest weekly issue of Famitsu (via) features a review for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, in which it is revealed that the length of one of the two story paths is about 80 hours. For the sake of comparison, in its review for the original Shin Megami Tensei V, the publication had stated that its main story took around 50 hours to finish. Vengeance has received individual scores of 9, 9, 9, 9, and collectively 36/40.
Furthermore, the Famitsu review states that Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is easy to play, thanks to Quality of Life improvements such as the ability to save anywhere and and a more refined map screen. It is also said that the game offers plenty of content and is of great value for newcomers. Meanwhile, those who have played through the original will be able to appreciate the differences in the new story path. The review also mentions that combat in Vengeance has gained even more depth than in the original.
As per the Famitsu review, Shin Megami Tensei V fans will enjoy being able to notice the differences between the original and the new enhanced version. Game systems as well as the UI have received major improvements. One story path, presumably the new one added in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, will take around 80 hours to finish. It is said that the new scenario becomes a completely different story from the midpoint onward.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance lets players experience the original story of Shin Megami Tensei V in the Canon of Creation route or choose a second route, Canon of Vengeance, with significant story changes in the second half. Each route leads to a different ending. The Canon of Vengeance path introduces new characters, including the heroine Yoko Hiromine and a demon group Qadištu led by Lilith.
