Bioshock The Collection Suffers From Performance Issues On PS4 Pro and Xbox One X After New Update

2K Games has continued its trend of messing up their back catalog of games with new updates and after Mafia 3, the latest victim is Bioshock The Collection.

Bioshock The Collection has launched today for the Nintendo Switch. In addition to launching the Switch version, 2K Games has updated the ports for the PS4 and Xbox One. Those who have a PS4 can download Bioshock The Collection update 1.02 (for Bioshock Infinite) and 1.03 (for Bioshock 1 and 2).

The new update that has been released today appears to add support for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, but this support is apparently limited to just the first two Bioshock games. The other thing mentioned in the patch notes for Bioshock The Collection update 1.02 and 1.03 is bug fixes. However, as per early user reports, it has done the exact opposite.

Bioshock The Collection didn’t support any of the enhanced platforms but it runs at an unlock 60 FPS on PS4 and Xbox One, which could benefit a locked 60 FPS on a PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. After the latest update, users are reporting an overall downgraded performance and the lack of an option to limit the frame rate, which appears to have been removed with the new update.

Among other changes, they have mentioned that some of the main menu artwork inside the games was updated. In addition, 2K Games has added a choice to link account for 2K Online. All of this has led to a far inferior experience for this classic collection of Bioshock games than it was originally released.

This follows the same trend of the Mafia Remaster trilogy which has received a patch downgrading PS4 Pro and Xbox One X support. 2K Games support has confirmed that they are looking into the issue for Mafia 3 Definitive Edition, but there is no word on a fix for Bioshock The Collection for now.
