Dying Light 2 developer Techland has shared an update on the development of the game confirming that it is still coming in 2021.
Dying Light 2 was originally scheduled to launch in 2020 but the game was delayed indefinitely while a number of high-profile developers departed Techland and left behind the development of the game, which sparked the rumor that the project might be in trouble.
Techland had announced that a new update on the project would be shared on March 18 and they have done this today by releasing a short video that showcases some minor footage from the game.
Most of the video focuses on the developers who read tweets and messages shared by the fans urging them to get the game out as soon as possible. They clarify that the development is going smoothly for the game and they will release it in 2021.
At the end of the video, a small snippet can be seen from the game that showcases the various mutated enemies, parkour, and cutscenes. The footage still looks good but there is no release date mentioned but they had already clarified it before sharing this video.
Dying Light 2 was confirmed for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It was originally set to launch in 2020 but due to multiple delays, it hasn’t been released yet. There are also reports that suggest that Techland is facing development issues behind the scenes leading to the longer than expected wait time for the launch of the game.
While the developers never acknowledged they had issues with the game, they did accept that it was announced too early, but it is far from development hell. Based on the new update, it could get a release in 2021 but that remains to be seen for now.
