Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced with an official release date this E3 but apparently, it won’t cover the full story. Despite that, Square Enix is assuring the fans that the sequels will arrive at a much faster pace.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was first revealed at E3 2015 with a cinematic trailer and it was quickly followed up with a short snippet of gameplay later that year. After this reveal, the game started to face a lack of announcements and there was just small tidbit of information shared on rare occasions.
Now that we know that the game is out on March 3, 2020, and how long the first part of the story will last in this multi-part series, the producer of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Yoshinori Kitase has shared more information on the game in an official blog post.

Kitase-san explained that Final Fantasy VII is not just a Remake but the main aim of this project is for them to rebuild the whole world from scratch.
“FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is a reimagining of the iconic original game that goes much deeper into the world and characters of FINAL FANTASY VII than ever before.
Our goal with this project is to rebuild FINAL FANTASY VII for a new era. We’re not making a straight 1:1 copy or a simple remaster of the original game.”
The first game in this re-imagined world will be released on 2-discs, and that just shows the extent of the scope of this project. There are rarely multiple discs released this generation and the most recent example is Red Dead Redemption 2.
“While the development team finish the first game in the project, we are continuing to plan and outline the overall volume of content for the second.
Due to the work already done on the first game we anticipate development of the second game to be more efficient. We have our own internal schedule and plan, but for now we’d like to focus our information on the first game in the project,” says Kitase-san assuring the fans that sequels will be released sooner to avoid a long wait.
