Metal Gear Solid V and Metal Gear Survive Get New Stability Updates

by Ali Haider

Konami has updated its Metal Gear Solid V and Metal Gear Survive on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This is related to some stability improvements as per Konami.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes, and Metal Gear Survive, all received a separate update today. The file size of these updates was under 500 MB so it is not a big patch by any means. So what about the patch notes? Well, the changelog mentions that these updates are for stability improvements but the timing is a little suspicious. This is leading to a theory that these patches could be a preparation for the game to be ready for backward compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.

Every version of the game has received a different update number. Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience has been patched to version 1.09, The Phantom Pain to version 1.20, and Ground Zeroes to version 1.05. Metal Gear Survive has also been updated to version 1.20.

The changes are mentioned simply as “Stability Improvement” so there is no indication from Konami what is made even more stable in the game. If we had to take a guess, it has to do with the game’s servers. While Metal Gear Solid 5 was mostly a single-player game, it had a FOB mode where the players could interact online.

Metal Gear Survive, meanwhile, is a multiplayer-focused game that ditches the traditional Metal Gear Solid formula for a more survival-focused adventure. It was released almost three years after Kojima left Konami and after the launch of Metal Gear Solid 5.
