Netflix is rapidly churning out new content as the platform steps up to face the increasing challenge of competition. According to a new rumor, Netflix is now reportedly pursuing a Resident Evil TV Show.
This was first reported by Deadline who heard about it from their own internal sources. According to them, “German production and distribution company Constantin Film, which is behind the Resident Evil movies loosely based on the Capcom video game series, is the studio.”
While this might signal some alarm bells due to the critically panned Hollywood produced movies based on the Resident Evil brand, they can do a lot better with a TV Show if they hire a different director and competent writer to do this job. The movies are based on the vision and work of Paul W.S.Anderson, who is not the greatest director to hire for a video game adaptation to movies.
Capcom owns the Resident Evil brand and there were rumors that the movies will be rebooted and start fresh. This Netflix TV Show will supposedly expand the “Resident Evil universe and deepen the existing mythology.” It will be focused on the evil pharmaceutical Umbrella corporation and explore the inner workings of the company. They are the main villains in the movie and video games since they are the ones unleashing this virus infecting a whole city and creating chaos all over the world.
